What is Corrugated Steel Pipe?

As a KS product manufactured in accordance with the Korean industrial standard KS D 3590 corrugated steel pipe and corrugated section, it is a civil engineering material manufactured in the form of a round pipe by forming corrugations with certain specifications on hot-dip galvanized steel plate to increase the external pressure strength and load-bearing capacity. It is used to support the load through interaction with the adjacent ground and collect rainwater and drain naturally in case of rain.

Pipe making method using lock seam
  • Corrugated steel pipe is a product produced by adhering the shape of the lock seam with high pressure without welding the overlapping part when making a pipe in the form of a round pipe.
  • There is no welding part, so there is no damage or corrosion of the galvanized layer due to heat, so it is a product with high durability.

Mechanical properties

Corrugated steel pipe is a ductile pipe. When vertical earth pressure is generated on the upper part after burial, the lateral earth pressure resists. At this time, the vertical and lateral earth pressure become constant, referred to as load distribution.
This load distribution (ring compression effect) suppresses the bending development and has a structural characteristic in which the compressive force acts.

Excavation

Excavation is carried out based on the excavation regulations stated in the standard specification of Korea Expressway Corporation. The width of the excavation is as follows.

Foundation ground

In order to evenly distribute the load acting on the corrugated steel pipe, the following conditions of foundation ground are observed.
