What is Corrugated Steel Plate?

Corrugated steel plate is a structural material that increases flexural rigidity, internal force, and durability by forming corrugations on a steel plate with certain specifications and has the characteristics of buried structure that supports the load through interaction with the surround ground.

Deep Corrugated steel plate
  • As shown in Section A-A, the pitch and depth of the corrugated steel plate is three times larger than that of the standard corrugated steel plate, which improves the structural load resistance against the stress concentration caused by the high backfill and unbalanced earth pressure.
  • Unlike conventional products bent with press brake machines, the accuracy of product specifications can be improved with the roll forming process, and L, the circumferential length of the existing steel plate can be extended from 4.7m to 7.2m.

Mechanical properties

When vertical earth pressure is generated on the upper part of the corrugated steel plate structure, lateral earth pressure resists. At this time, the vertical and lateral earth pressure becomes constant, referred to as load distribution. This load distribution (ring compression effect) suppresses the bending development and has a structural characteristic in which the compressive force acts.
